Essential Question: How can we use collaboration to solve problems? Bell Ringer: Go to Google Classroom and complete the bell ringer. Activity: Today we are going to start an engineering design process lesson. Working in teams you will construct bridges with popsicle sticks and hot glue. Your bridge must be able to span an opening of 14", hold at least 20 lbs for a minute, and be aesthetically pleasing. I have placed a full set of instructions in Google Classroom with the associated reflection and research information. Bell Ringer: Go to Google Classroom and complete the bell ringer. Activity: Today we will be using the SCAMPER technique to come up with ideas on how to make some everyday products better. The assignment for completing this activity is in Google Classroom. You can copy the needed pdf sheets into something like meta-moji and complete the sheets and turn them in. You may work in groups, however, everyone should turn in their own work. Exit Ticket: Is there and everyday item you think you could make better? Standard: ENGR-FMMS-4. Students will explain and apply safe work practices while performing tasks. a. Identify safety equipment b. Recognize immediate, potential, and hidden hazards. c. Perform housekeeping tasks related to maintaining a safe work environment. d. Pass a safety test with a perfect score prior to operating equipment. e. Demonstrate the proper safe use of tools and equipment. Essential Question: How do we work safely in the MakerSpace? Bell Ringer: Go to Google Classroom and complete the bell ringer. Activity: Today we will be taking our safety assessments. Take about 5 minutes to look over the your safety list. We will take the test and review them The Maker Movement in Action Exit Ticket:
