Standards: S8CS2 – Students will use standard safety practices for all classroom laboratory and field investigations. The most important thing you can learn in Maker is how to work safely in a shop environment. There are many tools in the MakerSpace that can harm you. Because of this the first project we will complete is in place to help you learn proper safety procedures. You will be placed into 6 groups. Each group will be assigned one of the 6 safety list we will be learning. Each group will have to learn their list and then produce a video that teaches your classmates the information from your group's list. Groups Basic Safety Hand Tool Safety Power Tool Safety Slips, Trips, and Falls Handling Electrical Equipment Handling Equipment Finished videos will be turned in to Google Classroom. Video Rubric After we watch everyone's videos we will take a test on all of the safety list. You are responsible for every group's list on the test. In order to use a particular type of tool you must pass the test related to that type of tool. Each group will begin the process by creating a children's book on their safety list which they will turn into a video. Follow the rubric for creating the book. Children’s Safety Book Your assignment is to create a children’s book that teaches young children the safety rules of the list your group will make into a video. Your group will work together to complete one book. Your book must fit the following criteria.
You will then use the book to create a video with a voice over. I high suggest that each group divide up responsibilities for the book and video. I.e. each person complete separate pages. One person start filming as pages are completed. Someone be in charge of editing, someone do the voiceover etc. The video will be due on Thursday March 16th, for a quiz grade. The children's book will be for a classwork grade.
