ENGR-STEM3 – Students will design technological problem solutions using scientific investigation, analysis and interpretation of data, innovation, invention, and fabrication while considering economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability constraints. (a) Demonstrate fundamental principles of design. (b) Design and conduct experiments along with analysis and interpretation of data. (c) Identify and consider realistic constraints relevant to the design of a system, component, or process. Essential Question: How do we design a new product? Bell Ringer: Starting Monday we will be using Google Classroom for bellringers. Use the code below to join our classroom. l1q6u9p Activity: Today will be designing and building something that can store headphones and keep the wires from getting tangled. This is a product that will be marketed to middle and high school students. Some of the design constraints are that it needs to be small enough to fit in a pocket, it should be lightweight, and it can be made only with the materials provided.
What is the Engineering Design Process video Example of the steps of the EDP Funny Boat First we do the brainstorming and research component of the design process. Discuss options for how to keep headphones from getting tangled. Can think of any examples of similar items. Easy Fit Design working in groups you are going to share ideas with each other about what you think might work. Sketch all of their proposed ideas on a piece of paper. Remember, there are no bad ideas when brainstorming. What existing products or models have you seen that might be good for storing headphones? Exit Ticket: How can you use EDP in other subject areas?
